Panoramadingdong

If all goes to plan, Deirdre and I should feature at some point in this week's "Panorama", to be broadcast on BBC1 at 8.30PM on Monday 15th November. We were interviewed by Shelley Jofre last week about our weightloss blog and proposals to tax fatty foods (Deirdre and I had opposing views on this!)

If you have the right set-up - and the stomach for it! - you can even watch us in glorious HD.

Once the programme has aired, hopefully we'll both do posts about our experiences.

  1. Try Paul McKenna "I can make you thin" I've lost 3st since March and have a positive attitude towards food, there's no forbidden foods.

  2. I just watched the episode of panorama with you guys on it. The one thing they didn't mention I feel was the food contents.

Most inexpensive foods these days are watered down, they consist of just water, fat and flavour enhancers such as MSG, Aspartame and Caffeine.
I mention those specific enhancers because they are addictive, they release endorphins in much the same way as smoking or any other addictive substance.

If the government insist on continuing to allow addictive substances to be present in foods which consist of mainly fat, what do they expect.

  3. I need to be careful of Aspartme and Caffeine particularly, although sadly I'm less vigilant than I should be. I've heard people say a few dark things about the addictive qualities of fast food "special sauces" but I've never seen any conclusive proof - except, of course, my own waistline! As far as Paul McKenna is concerned, I'm always naturally cynical of that - er - area. However, he's right: a positive attitude to food (rather than making it a rod for your back) is what's important. Maybe I will give his book a look. Thanks for your input, James and Anonymous.

Assuming you haven't already ruined your metabolism, you can quickly and safely lose your fat following my advice above - and best of all, you will not need to exercise to 'burn the fat off' and shouldn't need to live in hunger.

Just add in some gentle walking each day until your weight and energy are at a stage allowing you to exercise.

Fat loss come from a quality diet, not from chronic hunger and low fat, processed carbohydrate.

  5. I just watched the Panorama show and I know that as a thin and relatively healthy person it's very easy for me to say 'it's easy, just don't eat junk'. So i just thought i'd have a look at your blog and congratulate you for turning your diet around. I think it's really commendable becuase when your so use to something (no matter what it is), to have to completely change it and adopt it as a lifestyle choice must be incredibly difficult.

I'm on the fence about the tax - sometimes i think yes do it then other times i think it's unfair. Education is so important, even from a young age i think. Then at least people won't have to worry about having to change their lifestyle like yourselves.

Good luck and all the best in the future. well done.
